Olympian Apolo Ohno inspires Saint Malachy School to say “No” to drinking alcohol.
On Wednesday, April 14, Saint Malachy’s 7th & 8th grade students were invited to La Salle Academy in N.E. Philadelphia to hear Speedskating Olympic Champion Apolo Ohno talk about the importance of a healthy lifestyle to include saying “No” to drugs and alcohol.
Ohno encouraged the students to “apply themselves in school” and to find your “unique talent”. His message to all was ” it’s not where you start, it’s where you finish“.
Spoken like a true 8 time Olympic Medal Winner.

In this Year of the Priest our Holy Father Pope Benedict XVI has honored members of the presbyterate of the Archdiocese of Philadelphia by appointing them Monsignors.
On Sunday, January 17, 2010, our pastor, Father Kevin Lawrence received Papal Honors and was appointed a Monsignor. We congratulate Father Kevin and express our deep gratitude for his dedicated priestly life and ministry.
“This honor bestowed by our Holy Father is a blessing for the Archdiocese of Philadelphia. It holds special significance during this Year of the Priest, a time for priests to grow in holiness and live more fully united to the Sacred Heart of Jesus, and for all members of the Church to recall the essential role of priests among us and in our society”.
His Eminence, Cardinal Justin Rigali
Archbishop of Philadelphia
